MySQL於1995年推出，供使用者免費下載，旋即成為坊間最受歡迎的資料庫之一。2008年2月26日Sun Microsystems 收購MySQL，令MySQL的發展更迅速。

隨著不斷加入新功能，現時MySQL在開源市場已經有極高的佔有率，近年更有不少企業採納使用，對於MySQL的人材需求亦相對提升。

MySQL於推出5.0版本後，全面更新其考試架構，修畢本課程後，學員可以考取證書成為Certified MySQL Database Administrator. (CMDBA)

考生必須通過以下 2 個 MySQL 的考試，才可獲發 OCP: MySQL 5.0 Database Administrator。

報考時請致電本中心，登記欲報考之科目、考試日期及時間 (最快可即日報考)。臨考試前考生須出示身份證及繳付每科 HK$1,898 之考試費。

考試題目由澳洲考試中心傳送到你要應考的電腦，考試時以電腦作答。所有考試題目均為英文，並為單項或多項選擇題。作答完成後會立即出現你的分數，結果即考即知！考試不合格便可重新報考，不限次數。欲知道作答時間、題目總數、合格分數等詳細考試資料，可瀏覽本中心網頁"各科考試分數資料"。

兩科考試合格的四至六星期後，證書將郵寄抵達已被確認的住址。
